Trees

Last week, we had an afternoon sister swap- we traded Elena with Annalee's friend Sarah! Elena and her girlfriends have started a club, so we volunteered to entertain another little sister while they met. Here are the little ones in a tree! They were escaping from Nibbles, who was running around the yard full of energy. The kids were happy to wait it out in the branches :)

After cleaning up the remnants of Christmas, I dragged our tree out to the driveway. I was hoping Andy would see it and take it to the curb... needless to say, the chickens found another use for it! At one point, I saw at least four chickens on or in it. I guess they like fur trees?

Model Chicken Contest

The kids helped me enter a few of our chickens in a contest recently. Back Yard Chickens was having a Model Chicken Contest, and we thought we'd get a couple good shots of our girls (and boy)!



This is Endive, one of our Buff Brahmas.

We got an action shot of Mrs. Fluffles. You can even see her green ear :)

And, our proud papa bird, Chowder. He's really getting big... and feisty! If your not careful, he'll chase you down to show you who's boss.

Christmas 2012

Is it really almost February? We have been going non-stop since New Years Day, so here's my attempt to catch up...

Here are the kiddos on Christmas morning! I think we all enjoyed a Christmas at home- no rush, no drama and living in our pj's all day (well, I did at least!).

This is the first big surprise this year... chicks! We already had several chickens, but we didn't get to raise them from peeps. Now's our chance! Introducing the newest members of our family- Plymouth Barred Rocks- Dysentery, Gazpacho, Cassie, Giblets, Pollo, and... wait a minute... where's Fluffy?

There's Fluffy, with Gabe the bird man :) Our friends, the Best family, were kind enough to help me keep these little gals a secret for almost a week before Christmas! The peeps got plenty of love even before I brought them home :)

The kids love their new chicks almost as much as I do!

The kids love to play with their Kinect- here they are bowling. I really like that you don't need a controller to play! Nothing to get lost in the couch cushions :)

I love to see the boys playing together... since there are 5 1/2 years between them, it's not easy to find an activity they both enjoy. Anything having to do with Nerf guns or race cars will do nicely!

And the second big surprise this year was a trampoline! I think the kids will be playing outside a lot more in the near future... yay!
