Sledding!

Yesterday, we got more snow... the beautiful, slow-falling, silent kind of snow :)  It was great to watch from the warm indoors!  The kids wanted to try out some sledding on the levy by the pond, so they got bundled up and headed out!

For the first few runs, the dogs just watched... here's Noah, gaining momentum.

There's Gabe, taking his turn...

Then, Reine got into it.  She tried to tackle whoever was on the sled at the bottom of the hill!

Then, Roy got into the game!

Here's Gabe, ready to get tackled!

Elena even tried to sled :)

After getting frozen to the bone, the kids headed back in :)

We had a great snow day... and we are certain to have a white Christmas, too!

Let it Snow!

I know, all you cold winter veterans will say that the newness will wear off after the first few snows... but this is gorgeous!  This is my first real snow in 10 years (the last time being the Indiana blizzard of 2004), and my younger two don't ever remember seeing snow.  So, this is a big deal for us :)

We woke up to the white stuff, and it's still coming down pretty steady.  Not sure how much we'll get, but I hope it stops before I need groceries!  Andy tells me they keep hwy 285 cleared, but I'm worried about the road between here and there... I'll let you know how that goes!

Here's some beautiful pics from our winter wonderland:

Even the dogs eventually got used to it!  Reine was a snow-crazed beast :)

The boys ventured into the back yard and onto the frozen pond... Noah fell and was covered with snow when he came in!  I just wish this house had a mud room...

Happy snow day, everyone! :)

Moving to the Mountains!

So, as many of you know, we have moved from North Fort Myers, Florida to Conifer, Colorado!
It was a long move but worth the effort.  Although we were feeling a bit light-headed the first day or two (we are at 8400 ft!), I think we have all acclimated to the changes in altitude.

Our new home is on 4 mountain-side acres with a large open space backing up to it.  We have already explored  the area and have actually climbed to the top of the mountain!  Here are some pics of the house and yard....

Noah and Gabe are playing on the frozen pond.  Right now, it is only a foot deep, but in the spring thaw it will be about 15 feet deep.  There are even boats that we can take out :)

There's a little picnic area by the pond, complete with fire pit and chiminea.

Behind the house are large climbing rocks...

It was 32 degrees today, but with the sun so much closer it seemed much warmer!  Annalee and I took a hike with only jackets on.

You can vaguely see the neighboring mountain range.

The back of the house...

This side faces the street.

Hey, there's Elena!

We got this house furnished.  It is like a vacation rental!

This is the sun room.  I will be using this a lot in the spring!  Right now, it is too cold...

Love you all!  Stay tuned for more Colorado adventures :)
