One of the kids' favorite things to do with Mamaw and Papaw Northenor is playing cards!
My parents got to know our chickens while they were here... and they also learned to keep their distance from the our roo, Chowder. I guess it's hard to make friends with an animal who is constantly attacking your legs. My mother would take her shoe off and try to beat him with it! Mamaw always wins her battles :)
The kids really enjoyed their time with Mamaw and Papaw! We can't wait to see them again in August with the rest of the family...
I was in total relax mode when Andy and I went to the Keys... I took a few pics from the car on the way in, but I didn't want to lug the camera around while we walked. I had heard that Key West was a lot like New Orleans, but it's not! Duval Street was nice to see, but not nearly as active as Bourbon, and the architecture was very different. Key West also had a very relaxed, tropical atmosphere that was nice- and you get to see the sunset over the water, a definite bonus!
I thought this banyan tree was gorgeous, and the raised cottages were pretty, too!

One exceptional thing about Key West is that the community has many wild chickens that roam the streets at any time of day! They all look like bantam Delawares, but I could be wrong... these birds are left to eat and nest wherever they wish- I didn't see one coop while we walked around! This is free-ranging at its best :) And, I'm told there are no natural predators on the island.

The water was amazing! We are planning on making another visit with the kids when it's warmer and possibly doing some snorkeling at the coral reef in Key Largo. The water was still too chilly this time around! I can't wait to go back :)
